The underground cistern near the former Austrian barracks called “Castel San Pietro” in Verona has a circular shape, with a diameter of about 18 meters and a depth of about 15 meters.
Consolidation and securing works were recently carried out and the cistern was emptied.
For the strong degradation of the wall structures, an extensive investigation campaign was carried out, to determine the characteristics of the materials and of masonry (single and double flat jacks, coring and videoendoscopiche investigations, identification of mortars through chemical and mineralogical analysis, thermographic surveys).
