In the Cathedral of “San Vigilio” in Trento (TN), in order to determine indirectly (sonic method) the consistency of masonry pillars placed between the naves, we proceeded to characterize qualitatively – quantitatively the “consistency” of the pillars in various sections, by sonic tomography tests, with the aim to detect the possible presence of cracks or internal cavities, generally indicated by reduced speed of sound.
