In 1908 the construction of the factory of chemical fertilizers superphosphate began. During the years – until the sixties – more buildings were added to older buildings, occupying an area of 36.000 square meters. In 1988 the factory moved its production in a more suitable area.
In 1995 the City of Cerea, acquiring a part of the area, began the design of the recovery plan; the first objective was the renovation of the older building, protected by the Ministry of Cultural and Environmental Heritage because it is an industrial archaeological site. The structure is composed by many masonry pillars damaged at the base and walls out of plumb.
The control of the structural conditions by ten displacement transducer, an inclinometer and a sensor of temperature and relative humidity was provided for this reason.
